- It could have taken place in the 80s



3) What clues do you get from the setting about the kind of story it is going to turn out to be?

The Real Durwan by Jhumpa Lahiri

- It is mentioned in the story that the poor sweeper lived near tha letter box and how she had a turmoil with her husband and four daughters. This could be about the life of story of the woman.


The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Arthur Conan

- It is mentioned that Sherlock Holmes had solved many cases, thus meaning that it is about another detective story.



Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

- It shows the dialogue of a husband and wife. This story could be about the story of them.

  1. When I asked about where a story is set you are supposed to indicate in which country and place the story has been set in. There is always a reason why a story is set in a particular country by an author. When a story is set is asking you to identify the time period and what the background of that period contributes to the story.
