Like Mother like girl

This is the comic strip created by me! I named it "like mother like girl". In the first picture, I chose a background which looks like part of a playground. This background contributes to the fact that the they were having some outdoor activities and that the boy could have accidentally angered the girl . As you can see from the above, the girl is significantly larger than the boy; having the effect of her being angry and fiercer and the boy being frightened. In the speech bubble, the girl is shown to have used some vulgarities. In the background of the picture, the teacher-in-charge of the activity had witness the whole situation.
The second scene is about the teacher-in-charge speaking to the girl's mother about her misconduct during the activity. The background I used in this scene is an office, hopefully giving the impression that the girl is very playful and mischievous. The girl's mother is portrayed as a very demure lady. The girl's mother's phone was ringing, showing that she is about to answer the phone.
A demure lady should speak with politeness. However, upon hearing some bad news, the mother began to swear!
In other words, this comic strip is showing that parents have to set good examples and not telling the child what to do and they themselves practising none of them. In many times in our daily lives, we tend to face many irritating or annoying situations. Usually we would be annoyed with the person. However, it is the parents that are the responsible ones. Therefore, creating a good and considerate society starts with the parents.(:

  1. Ok, firstly may I know what you mean by parents are the one responsible in the last line? Does it mean that the person who annoyed you is like that because his parents behave that way? I totally disagree with you saying that creating a good and considerate society starts with the parents. Creating a society like that is not like when the parents set good examples, such society would be created. I do have friends whose parents are doctors and lawyers but still misbehave. However, I still love your comic strip as it is very interesting and funny! You can comment back at my blog www.love-hwachong.blogspot.com when you are free! Happy CNY!

  2. Hi, this is my comment on Darrel's comic strip. I am using my own comment box to comment on Darrel's blog as the chat box is too short for me to comment and I cant find other ways to type down my comments for Darrel.

Hi Darrel, I find your comic strip rather realistic to our daily life and I find your comic rather interesting. In my own opinion, I find that youhave found a very common scene which is very suitable for the message that you are trying to spread. I do agree with you. I feel that it is true that we should listen to our elders as they have more life experience then we do.

Although your comic strip is interesting, I personally feel that there are still some parts where you can improve. For example, your comic strip did not have background which was required. You also do not have a short description.

On the whole, I still find your comic strip interesting and agreeable. By the way, please read my answers to your questions that you posted in the previous comments in thecomment below. Thank you!

  3. Hi again. These are my answer to Darrel's comments and questions. You mentioned that you do not understand my last sentence in the post. What I am trying to say is that before we go to school, we are being taught by our parents or you can say that the child is closest to his or her parents. In other words, the parents are the ones that would spread the moral values and habits to the children. When we are born, do you think that we know what is called right or wrong? It's a NO. Thus, in the first few years during a child's childhood, it is the parents that influence the child most. It is simply like a clean piece of paper being drawn on and written on.The "comtent" depends on the parents.

To your second question (in your first comment), below is my answer. Please be patient as I know they are quite long.:)

I believe you have misunderstood my comic strip. What I was trying to show was that the moral values and habits passed by the parents are the prime influence to a child. That is got nothing to do with the child annoying others. The cause of the child annoying others I feel, is due to the fact that the child lacks the attention or probably is annoyed by the person he is annoying. The reason for the second reason I gave, is that it is natural for one to want to take revenge as we will become angry and it is humans nature. However, the child could be playful too. Being playful is the nature of being a child; being playful would slowly be gone as the child turns more and more mature as he grows up. Actually, the child's behaviour, is his choice. This are only the case for responsible parents who spread the correct moral values to the child. You are partly right too. It is sometimes caused by the parents. But may not be due to way they behave. This is because the parents did not past the correct values and habits to a child causing the child to behave inappropriately.

Sorry for the length, this is not a lecture but just my answers. By the way, you said that you have friends who misbave although their parents are lawyers and doctors. Hopefully my answers for question two has covered part of the reasons for the above situation. The other accuse would be the parents they themselves not having the time to communicate with the child.

So if all the parents do their part, all the children would be better behaved, not having the environment for bad influence like vulgarities. Speaking about habits, the world would be clean and green as everyone would then recycle and save the environment. Global warming would also subside if time is given. That would result in peace and happiness if all humanity. However, as reality is now, the world is in a very bad condition, so as most of the people. Thus is it very hard to create the ideal world; but not impossible.

Thank you for reading till the end. Actually Darrel, your feedback meant a lot to me. You have shown me that my comic is not clear enough. Thank you for that and have a nice day.

Don't say I did not wish you a Happy Chinese New Year.
